I Did Promise a Little Bit of News..

…and that bit of news is a new design I’m experimenting with.

Goodness me! A backpack??
Goodness me! A backpack??

I have been asked SO many times when I am going to do a backpack, and finally I have a prototype up and made that I am willing to share with you. At the moment it is very basic and needs some considerable tweaks, but what do you reckon?

Back zip on the backpack

One strap..

This bag has one shoulder strap and two rings on the base, so if you prefer right or left shoulder wearing, you have the choice. Right now it has a zip pocket in the back and a packet on the front.  The zip in the back seems a good plan, because I’ve had a few people say if I make a backpack to include a back pocket for security reasons, as they are a little vulnerable.

Inside the main part of the bag is a slip pocket that can take a tablet and there’s room for books, a bottle of water (or wine), purse, phone and so on.

Feedback please…

As I’ve said, this is very much a work in progress, so let me know what you think. Are you one of those people waiting for me to do a backpack? Is this anything like what you had in mind? I’ll be playing with the design in the coming weeks, amongst other things, so let me know. This is the stage where I prototype all sorts of ideas, dismiss some, add others in, and hopefully the backpack will end up joining my range of bags.

Merry Christmas!

All that is left for me to say is that your last chance to pick up a bag from me is on Friday 21 December at Chapel Lane Market in Ennis, from 12-7pm. After that, the sewing machines get to put their feet up, fed a drop or two of sewing machine oil and have a well deserved festive snooze.

Have a very wonderful festive season, and happy and enjoyable new year, and I will be back with you all in January to let you know how the backpack design is progressing, and to let you know developments at Bag Making HQ in 2019!

So put on the Slade, José Feliciano and Greg Lake (I know, showing my age), break out the mistletoe, and start celebrating!

And thank you everyone for your support and company on my bag making adventures in 2018.
